Iwatani Naofumi is a young japanese man who is all of a sudden summoned to a parallel world. There he learns that this parallel world is often targeted by ‘waves’ which seek complete destruction of that world and a total of 4 ‘heroes’ are summoned to protect that world from the waves. These four heroes are named after weapons as follows: the spear hero, the sword hero, the bow hero and the shield hero. Our protagonist gets to play the role of shield hero which apparently seems useless to him. The story progresses as he meets a princess named Myne who first befriends him, only to later accuse him of false rape charges and rob him of his belongings. Our protagonist despite being innocent is bad mouthed everywhere and gets filled with hatred towards that world and the princess. The story progresses as he meets new people who guide him on the way of a hero. This is the story of how a young man, falsely accused and disrespected by all saves their world from waves and regains his honor and rights. A must read thriller in our opinion.

Chimera is a term that refers to a living being that is usually a cross between humans and animals. Our protagonist Iwatani Naofumi ‘buys’ her as a slave but frees her of miserable life by treating her as nicely as he could. Alongside our shield hero, we are also introduced to the other three heroes. We come across several interesting characters throughout the story which only adds upto the excitement of the rising of the shield hero manga.
