Enso Finance Loses 5.6 ETH in Oracle Price Error

Enso Finance says a faulty oracle price calculation led to a loss of about 5.6 ETH. The issue hit its DPI Strategy Vault, according to a report shared by security-focused account SlowMist. The problem was not a simple price feed outage. It involved how the protocol valued strategies during a deposit, which is perhaps the most sensitive part of any vault system.

The Deposit Flaw

The error appeared in the Controller.deposit() function. According to the report, the EnsoOracle checked strategy values before and after a user moved tokens. That check was wrong. Because the numbers were off, the system minted too many shares at a bad price. An attacker then used the imbalance in a Uniswap v3 pool to take advantage. The loss is small in dollar terms compared with some DeFi hacks, but the method matters. It shows how a single pricing mistake can open a path for exploitation.
Enso Finance has not reported trading volume around the incident, based on available data. That thin activity may mean traders are waiting. Or it may simply reflect that Enso is not a high-volume token. Either way, the lack of a clear market response makes it hard to judge sentiment right now. Some users might treat the event as contained. Others could see it as another warning sign for vaults that rely on internal oracles and complex strategy accounting.

Market Reaction

The broader crypto market is mixed, so the Enso incident may not drive wider price action on its own. Still, DeFi users tend to react quickly when share minting and oracle logic fail. The key question is whether the flaw was isolated to one vault and one function or points to a deeper design issue. A full post-mortem would help answer that. So far, the details suggest a specific miscalculation rather than a broad protocol failure.

What Comes Next

Traders and users will watch how Enso Finance responds. A compensation plan, a contract fix, or an outside audit would all matter. The company also needs to explain how the oracle error passed checks and what prevents a repeat. Regulators are already paying closer attention to DeFi, and incidents like this can add pressure for stronger security and disclosure standards. For now, the loss is modest, but the reputational risk may last longer. Enso Finance’s next steps will likely shape whether users stay or move funds elsewhere.
