Analysts Warn Bitcoin Selloff Risk, Set $82,800 to $60,000 Range

Bitcoin slips as market cap loses $25B

Bitcoin’s market value fell by more than $25 billion in a day, dropping to about $1.65 trillion on October 12, 2026. The price traded near $82,480 at writing, down almost 2% in 24 hours. Even so, BTC is up 6.59% over 30 days, and trading volume jumped more than 99% to $22.8 billion, according to CoinMarketCap. That mix has left traders unsure whether the recent move is a pause or the start of a deeper pullback.

Analyst flags weak breakout above $82,800

Aksel Kibar, a former fund manager at the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, warned that Bitcoin’s breakout lacks fuel. He said the move above $82,800 looks hesitant compared with earlier breakout or breakdown candles. If buyers cannot push price higher, Kibar thinks BTC may fall back into a liquidity range between $82,800 and $60,000. For his view to change, he argued Bitcoin needs a strong rally above that support area. That would show demand is still in control. Without it, the market could test lower levels.

Bond yields and inflation data shape the next move

Daniela Hathorn, senior market analyst at Capital.com, told Finbold that Bitcoin has been choppy. Yields on U.S. government bonds, including 10-year and 30-year Treasuries, have climbed to their highest levels since 2002. Hathorn noted that easing Middle East tensions gave markets some breathing room, but she questioned whether the rebound can last. Much depends on whether bond yields and the dollar retreat. Upcoming U.S. inflation data could be decisive for expectations around the Federal Reserve’s next move. If inflation stays firm and yields keep rising, the Fed may face pressure to tighten policy again. That backdrop tends to weigh on risk assets like Bitcoin.

What traders are watching

For now, Bitcoin remains stuck in a choppy consolidation. Analysts sampled by Finbold see sell-off pressure building if macro conditions worsen. The key level on many charts is $82,800. A clean break above it might calm nerves. A failure there could open the door to the $60,000 area that Kibar mentioned. Traders are also watching volume, bond yields, the dollar, and the next inflation report. Those inputs could decide whether Bitcoin holds its recent gain or gives more back. The market is not in panic mode yet, but the warning signs are hard to ignore.
