Blast L2 Shuts Down, Sets One-Year Asset Recovery Window

Blast, the Ethereum layer-2 network that once drew attention for its deposit incentives, has officially ended operations. The team said users who still hold assets on the network can use a recovery system for one year.

The recovery process is aimed at people with ETH or dollar balances in layer-2 wallets, users with withdrawal transactions that never completed, and Blast Mobile users. The team shared the update through X and directed users to the official website.

What users can claim

The recovery interface covers ETH, WETH, and USDB balances. It also includes withdrawals that were started for Ethereum but did not finish; those amounts are automatically added to the address’s claimable balance. Users can check eligibility by querying their wallet address. Claims are handled by smart contracts on Ethereum mainnet, according to the guidance.

Deadline and mobile wallet steps

The final support date for the recovery site is November 4, 2027. The team described the period as a 12-month window after the shutdown for users to access remaining balances, though the stated timeline is worth checking against official updates. For Blast Mobile, the process is different. The mobile wallet does not exist on Ethereum with the same address, so users need to move it to a compatible application. The team asked users to rely only on official channels during recovery.

Why it matters

Blast was among the layer-2 networks that gained traction by offering incentives for deposits. Its shutdown marks another shift for users who parked funds on newer networks and now need to manage withdrawals. The one-year recovery period lowers the risk of an immediate loss, but it does not remove the need to act. Users with balances should verify their address, avoid unofficial links, and complete any required steps before the support date.

The team’s notice did not include investment advice. Even so, the practical lesson is simple: check the official recovery page, confirm what the wallet can claim, and keep records of any transaction that did not complete.
