John Squire, a well-known XRP influencer, has pressed Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse to show how the company’s partnerships help XRP holders. His comments came after Ripple announced a deal with DriveWealth, a brokerage services platform. The partnership is meant to improve digital asset infrastructure, including payments, settlements, custody, and institutional financing.
Why XRP Holders Are Frustrated
Squire wrote on X that the XRP community is tired. He said holders believe in the vision, but they need to see progress reflected in XRP itself. That view is not new. Many holders have watched Ripple announce deals and business expansions while XRP’s price has stayed weak. The coin trades near $1.30, down 5% over the past day and 29% since the start of the year. It briefly touched $1.70 in August, then fell back by more than 20%. XRP has also stayed below $3.84 for nearly a decade. That gap frustrates holders, especially when Bitcoin has reached six-figure prices. Ripple, meanwhile, keeps forming high-profile alliances and pursuing acquisitions worth billions of dollars.
The DriveWealth Deal
The new partnership with DriveWealth covers several areas. DriveWealth plans to use Ripple’s technology to settle payments in Europe with Ripple USD, or RLUSD, on the XRP Ledger. The firms may expand that service to the United States later. They also plan to use Ripple Payments to help DriveWealth partners move money across borders. Ripple will support DriveWealth’s digital asset custody needs in Europe, with possible expansion into other markets. The companies are also discussing financing through Ripple Prime, which offers services tied to U.S. stocks and stock derivatives. DriveWealth clients could fund accounts and manage collateral with stablecoins that convert to cash quickly. CEO Naureen Hassan said the company already offers trading five days a week, around the clock, and wants its payment systems to run just as efficiently.
What It Means for XRP
It is still unclear whether the DriveWealth deal will directly help XRP. The partnership uses RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, plus Ripple Payments, custody, and financing talks. But using Ripple products does not mean XRP is used in every transaction. RLUSD and XRP are separate assets. Payments in RLUSD may not raise demand for XRP by themselves. For now, holders hope Ripple’s growing network of business deals will lead to clearer benefits for XRP and better market performance. Squire’s message is simple: the community wants results, not just announcements.
