Bitcoin Needs Monthly Close Above $76,000 to Confirm Downtrend Support

Bitcoin’s pullback is being watched closely after a recent push above a key long-term trend line. Crypto analyst Rekt Capital noted that BTC has successfully retested the macro downtrend line and is beginning to treat it as support. That matters because the previous breakout above this line remains technically valid if the retest holds.

The trend line, according to the analyst, roughly overlaps with a price region that saw major highs around April-May 2026. Trading back above that area suggests the breakout has not been invalidated. Still, the market is at a stage where confirmation is needed.

Monthly Close is the Real Test

The most important thing to watch remains the monthly close. Rekt Capital says Bitcoin must finish the month above roughly $76,000. Closing above that level would point to more upside. If price drops back below the downtrend line before the month ends, things get more complicated. The current push could turn into a long upper wick. That would weaken the breakout and give bears more room.

The next few days are probably critical. The monthly candle is still forming. A close near current values would be a decent sign, but a lot can shift before the month finishes.

Where Bitcoin Stands Now

At the time of writing, BTC is trading around $79,509. That is down about 1.59% in the last 24 hours. The pullback has happened after a sharp rally, so a cooling phase looks fairly normal. Still, the reaction at the trend line will likely decide the near-term direction.

If Bitcoin can hold above the trend line and close the month above $76,000, the bullish setup becomes easier to defend. On the other hand, losing that mark would make the retest look like a failure rather than support.

A Fair Warning

This is not investment advice. Markets move fast and technical analysis can be wrong. Do your own research before making any trading decisions.
