Crypto influencer Ansem banned from Uber over low rating

Crypto influencer Ansem, whose real name is Zion Thomas, has been banned from using Uber. The ride-hailing company cited his persistently low rating of 4.2 stars as the main reason. Ansem shared the ban notification on X, showing Uber’s message that his score hadn’t improved despite a prior warning.

What led to the ban?

At first, Ansem didn’t explain much, leaving people on X guessing. One user joked that he kept drivers waiting while his friends got ready. His response was, “It’s really not my fault.” Later, on his Market Bubble podcast, he gave more details. He admitted to “an accumulation of just bad habits.”

He said, “I’m always late. Every time I call Uber, we’re loud as f**k. I got hella people with me, screaming in the back seat.” He also blamed nightlife chaos: leaving clubs or getting ready means everyone is slow, drinking, and searching for friends. He ended with, “A 4.2 rating doesn’t happen by accident – I earned it.”

Uber’s community guidelines

Uber has clear rules for both drivers and passengers. Violations can lead to suspension. For example, open alcohol containers and illegal drugs are not allowed. The guidelines also stress respect: “Aggressive, confrontational, or harassing behavior is not allowed.” Rude language and inappropriate actions can get you banned. You must also follow the law – no fraud, wear seatbelts, and no firearms.

It’s not exactly known what rating triggers a rider ban. In 2019, Uber said drivers needed at least 4.6 average across recent trips. For riders, the threshold may be lower. Uber claims it gives below-average riders multiple chances to improve. Ansem apparently used up all his chances.

What happens next?

Ansem might have to rely on other services or improve his behavior if he ever wants back on Uber. For now, his party-heavy style has cost him access. The story is a reminder that even in crypto, being loud and late can have real-world consequences.
