We Know Games: The OP Games Vision

Founded on its vision of transforming the gaming industry, OP Games has built a unique ecosystem that provides game developers with everything needed to onboard into Web 3. From supplying tools for the initial building phases to publishing, hosting, and establishing monetization streams, OP Games is finally bringing Web 3 accessibility to the average developer.

Blockchain’s prominence within Web 3 has successfully gatekept the space from even the most capable game developers. Because of this, OP Games believes there is a goldmine of developer talent stuck in Web 2 that their software development kits [SDK] and Web 3 arcade can unlock. The team’s “Game Lego” SDKs and its shared gaming universe, Arcadia enable traditional developers familiar with Web 2 to quickly leap into Web 3 and begin assuming meaningful ownership over their creations by having a hand at the full process of ideation, creation, development, and monetization.

Creating Fair Opportunities in Web 3

In the traditional Web 2 structure, developers are forced to rely on major publishers if they want their games to see the light of day. As a result, developers surrender to unfair publisher demands and settle for much less than they are due, or they risk being excluded from large player audiences and monetization streams if they don’t subject to the terms of the publisher. More often than not, developers are backed into unfair partnerships and left with only a small sliver of personal ownership by the time their games are published.

In response to these challenges, the emergence of Web 3 has ushered in a new era of decentralization. For the first time, developers can now hold full autonomy over their creations and source funding directly from the player base without surrendering a majority stake to a publisher. However, despite these significant changes in the business model and the enormous benefits that go along with it, traditional game developers still have to overcome significant barriers to entry if they plan to transition into Web 3.

To solve this, OP Games has created an open-sourced and all-encompassing Web 3 ecosystem that supplies developers with everything they need to see a game through, from creation to monetization.

The OP Games Ecosystem

In the OP Games ecosystem, “Game Lego” SDKs are the tools used to build and integrate games into Web 3. Arcadia, its shared gaming universe, provides a hosting platform to publish these Web 3 games simultaneously. Inside the virtual arcade, users can find a vast range of fun and exciting replayable games supported by a growing community of enthusiasts who continue to be immersed in the platform.  These engaged communities filling Arcadia allow developers to broaden their audience and establish steady monetization streams while gaining first-hand insight from gamers themselves on how to further innovate their creations. Together these elements form OP Games’ ecosystem that places developers center stage.

Game Legos: Building on What’s Possible

Even the most experienced game developer can become completely overwhelmed when setting out to learn the technical complexities of blockchain protocol and smart contract integration. Considering the technical hurdles that have to be overcome to build in Web 3, it’s easy to see why the industry is short on developer talent. For this reason, OP Games’ “Game Legos’” have been designed specifically to lower the barrier into the blockchain.

Serving as open-source building blocks, “Game Lego” SDKs allow developers to skip the complexity and overcome the gatekeeping aspects that have excluded traditional game developers from Web 3. The OP Games “Game Legos”  can be used to easily integrate Web 3 features into existing Web 2 titles or used to build new games in Web 3 from the ground up.

Integration vs. Automation

A crucial part of building in Web 3 is crypto integration, but just integrating coins and tokens into your game isn’t nearly enough. It’s all too common that games built in Web 3 end development after integrating tokens and fail to provide players with an experience that is at all different or new from Web 2.

“Game Legos” go further than just porting cryptocurrency into your game. Multiple smart contract SDKs are included within “Game Legos” that bring automated and permissionless transactions to the forefront. These smart contracts can act as trustless actors and initiate automatic transactions based on player performance. This alone opens a whole new realm of competitive possibilities ready to be harnessed.

Arcadia

Arcadia is a Web 3 arcade and host to a growing library of games built with OP Game’s SDK that focuses on bringing players, developers, and communities together to have fun and share memorable experiences. In Arcadia, players can explore the online arcade alone, challenge their friends, or choose to compete in recurring community tournaments. Tournaments in Arcadia allow players to connect their cryptocurrency wallet to their Arcadia account and compete in leaderboards across a variety of games for cold hard Web 3 prizes.

Through their in-game performance, players stand to win prizes including tokens, NFTs, whitelist spots for partnering projects, and first-hand opportunities to claim loot or mystery boxes and win future in-game assets. Tournaments have a set duration, but can be hosted across multiple games concurrently. At the tournament’s end, the players who have managed to make their way to the top spots on the leaderboard receive the tournament’s advertised winnings directly into their connected wallet.

Work is already underway at OP Games to implement an instant tournament creator that will allow players to organize custom tournaments and issue challenges between one another. OP Games plans to integrate smart contracts that will soon operate all tournament buy-ins and pay-outs to support this. Additional smart contracts in earlier stages of the pipeline will open the door for permissionless PvP and permissionless wagering that will further broaden the experience for players in Arcadia.

Arcadeum Arena

Within Arcadia, gamers can start jumping on several games that are ready to play on the platform, one of which is Arcadeum Arena, Arcadia’s flagship title.

Arcadeum Arena is a strategy game that allows Arcadian NFT holders to send their personal NFTs into battle. Built on our game legos, game developers can benefit from expanding the presence of their creations published on Arcadia by leveraging on Arcadeum Arena’s existing highly-engaged and active community.

Future Arcadeum Arena updates will expand on this to integrate NFT rarity, boosting the in-game stats of players who hold valuable Arcadians, along with plans for single-player leaderboard support, a 6v6 team size, and fresh balance changes that will further encourage players to use a diverse cast of Arcadians and formulate their own unique battle strategies, and bringing eSports into the auto battler game genre through our Game Legos.

$ARCD: The OP Games Token

$ARCD, OP Game’s official token, is set to launch in 2022. As the exclusive token accepted in Arcadia, $ARCD is expected to begin powering the tournament system on launch day. Players will be able to use $ARCD to participate in live tournaments that send $ARCD prizes via smart contract to those who have made it into the winners bracket at the tournament’s end.

An internal NFT marketplace and additional smart contracts that expand on tournament usage and carry out permissionless wagering will provide an impressive scope of potential token utility. The OP Games team sees a future Arcadia filled with players openly sending wagered challenges between one another and communities hosting their own customizable high stakes tournaments all powered by $ARCD.
