In less than a month, the final film of the Star Wars Saga, The Rise of Skywalker, will release in theaters across the world. The most notable director, J. J. Abrams, who has directed films like Star Trek Series (Kelvin Timeline), Mission Impossible III, Super 8, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, finally opens up about the runtime of the film. According to J.J.Abrams, the ninth film of the Star Wars saga has a runtime of 2 hours 21 Minutes. While confirming to the Entertainment Weekly Abrams did show a little bit of safeguard when he said that he believes the run time is 141 minutes.
The fans were expecting the runtime of the film to be more significant as the saga of the Skywalker family will finally come to an end. However, after J.J. Abrams revealed that runtime of the film, the fans and film fraternity around the world said that the runtime of the film isn’t as lengthy as they first thought to be. The Rise of Skywalker is not the lengthiest film in the series
After the recent edits and reshoots, if Abrams did manage to cut off over 10 minutes, then this makes the film one of the shortest films in the series. By the looks of it, The Rise of Skywalker is second comes in second to the 2017 film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which has a runtime of two hours & 32 minutes.
Moreover, this makes the first-ever Star Wars film A New Hope, which released in 1977 as the shortest film in the series. It was Star Wars: A New Hope, which gave the world an entirely new universe. Most of the people thought that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be another bladder bursting film from Disney like Avengers: Endgame, which had a runtime of 182 minutes.
Disney bought the script before it was sold on eBay
Abrams has recently revealed that one of the actors of The Rise of Skywalker left a piece of the script under the bed of a hotel room. Later, the script made to a person who put the script for sale on eBay.
Moreover, Abrams also said that someone at Disney announced that they found a script online, which seems completely legit, and it is currently for sale on eBay. As Disney monitors the online auctions like a space hawk, the production company managed to get the script back even before it was sold.
Star War: The Rise of Skywalker is all set for previews on the 19th of December 2019, and the next day on the 20th of December 2019, the film will be released across the world.
