Binance Academy is launching a blockchain research and innovation center in Shanghai, China. Binance Academy is the educational wing of global cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

It announced through a blog post yesterday that its research center Lingang Blockchain Academy under the name Lingang Blockchain Technology and Industry Research Institute is aimed to promote blockchain and DLT innovation in China.

It will act as a center to research and apply blockchain applications by integrating it with artificial intelligence (AI), big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and other advanced technologies.

Talking about the potential of blockchain and other cutting-edge technologies, Helen Hai, head at the Lingang Institute commented, “Blockchain revolution will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another. Nevertheless, technology should work for people and it should lift humanity into a new collective and moral consciousness based sense of common destiny. Therefore, we must shape a future that works for all of us by putting people first and empowering them,”

On the other hand, Don Tapscott who will act as the Honorary Dean of Lingang Blockchain Academy is of the opinion that blockchain is the second wave of the Internet revolution and will pivot further innovations and products.

Stressing on the importance of research and skill development, Tapscott assured that Binance, in collaboration with the Lingang Research Institute is dedicated to bringing about this transformative innovation in China.

Binance takes another shot at the Chinese market

Binance had ceased all operations in China back in 2017 amid the country’s crypto crackdown. The Binance Academy seems to be calculated from the exchange to re-enter the Chinese market gradually.

Last year, Binance launched peer-to-peer trading services for the Chinese Yuan against Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT).
